Spell Champion

Spell Champion Terms of Use

Effective date: October 26, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Carlos Rivera, doing business as Spell Champion ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the Spell Champion app or website, you agree to them. If you're a parent or guardian setting the app up for a child, you agree for yourself and on your child's behalf, and you're responsible for how your children use the app. Our Privacy Policy explains what the app keeps.

1. Apple's terms apply too

You get the app through Apple's App Store. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA") applies, and these terms add to it. If the two disagree, these terms apply, except where the Apple EULA must control. Apple isn't responsible for the app or for supporting it; we are.

2. Who can use the app

The app is for children practicing spelling, set up and supervised by a parent or guardian who is 18 or older. A parent sets up the app, agrees to the notice at first launch, and controls purchases and settings behind the parents-only check.

3. Free use, trials and subscriptions

4. Word packs and My Study List

Word packs (for example 500 extra reviewed words for one level) and My Study List are one-time purchases. They work while a Single or Family subscription is active, as the buy button says. If your subscription ends, the pack stays yours and works again when you subscribe again. Restore purchases from the parent area.

5. Your own word lists

You can type your child's own spelling words. You agree to type only spelling words: no names, personal information, or words that are hateful, sexual or meant to hurt someone. We may refuse, remove or not record any word. Words we record may be added to our shared word list for all families, without your family code. By sending words you give us permission to review, record and use them that way. We don't promise every word will be accepted or recorded by a certain time.

6. What the app is (and isn't)

Spell Champion helps children practice. Plain code checks each spelling; speech recognition can mishear, so the app asks again when it isn't sure. Practice mode is not an official spelling bee, and isn't connected to, sponsored or endorsed by Scripps or any bee organizer. Word details (definitions, sentences, origins) come from our reviewed word list; we work hard to get them right but can't promise there are no mistakes. Tell us about one at support@spellchampion.com.

7. Using the app fairly

Please don't copy, resell or share the app's words, recordings or design outside your family; try to get around purchases or the parents-only check; take the app apart or misuse our word service; or use the app to break any law. We may stop providing the app or a feature to anyone who does.

8. Ours and yours

The app, its words and word details, recordings, voices, artwork and the name and logo "Spell Champion" belong to us or the people who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your family under these terms and the Apple EULA.

9. Changes and availability

We may update the app, add or change words, features and levels, and fix things. We may change these terms; if a change matters, we'll show it in the app or by email before it applies, and keeping on using the app means you accept it. The app may sometimes be unavailable (for example while new words download); the built-in words keep working without the internet.

10. No warranties; limits on liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will be error-free or always available, or that a child will reach a particular result in a bee or at school. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if that's more. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

11. Disagreements

California law applies, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Please contact us first at support@spellchampion.com; most problems can be solved that way.

12. Ending

You can stop using the app anytime by deleting it (and cancelling any subscription with Apple). These terms end for you if you break them. Sections 6, 8, 10 and 11 still apply after that.
